This is my feed forward sheet that I have filled out which explains how I will make the improvements that are needed on my blog.

Lesson objectives.

My MTG ( minimum target grade ) is a MERIT/MERIT.
At the moment based in the mark scheme my current grade is a merit.
My targets for todays lesson is to complete all of the missing parts of LO2 and LO4, this includes completing an edit decision list and some of the rushes.

LO4: Offline edit.

This is the offline edit for the film trailer. (00:30)

I like the pan of the forest as a lot of other horror film trailers do this however, for me I think that this is too slow and if it was to be put in the trailer like this then it will slow down the pace of the trailer. One of the things that I don't like is the second scene and this is because the video sped up, this makes the scene look unnatural. One of the main things that I really like is all of the handheld shots, because this makes the trailer look found footage.

In Adobe Premiere I plan to speed up the pan of the forest as I think that this is too slow for the pace of the trailer. I also plan to cut down the length of some of the scenes since some of them are too long. At the end of the trailer where my is holding the camera I want to add and echo to his voice along with a fade to black to add to the intensity of the trailer.

LO2: Storyboards.

We are filming on Sunday the 22nd of February at Finley's house during the afternoon.

In today's lesson I have done some of the storyboards with Hayley.

My minimum target grade is MERIT/MERIT
One of my improvements is that I need to be more consistent, some of the things like the rushes are not fully complete so I need to have them finished.
Within the trailer there needs to be more speech within it, there needs to be more significant sentences that relate to the main theme of the trial which is a horror/thriller. Regarding the planning I need to create more storyboards so that there is no time wasting and that we can just get in with the filming. With the editing there needs to be more editing techniques because at the moment the trailer looks a bit limited.

LO3: Footage from 5-02-15

These clip is a second attempt of the scene where Hayley has her moment with the camera, the lighting is a bit better but it is still very inconsistent. It would be perfect if there was low lighting where by Hayley is just visible enough for the viewers to see her. If the lighting is too bright then the scene would look set up and unrealistic.

In this clip Hayley was practising her short scene with the camera, the trailer need more handheld shots since it was found footage. One of the negative points about this clip is that the lighting is very bad, throughout the clip there is little to no lighting making it hard to see Hayley. For this to work there needs to be some lighting, just enough to see her face.

In this scene Hayley and Alex quite down as they hear sudden noises. This is going to be used in the trailer along with a number of other clips to add a bit of momentum to the trailer. One of the things that will be changed in this clip is the lighting, this is because it makes the trailer look artificial and too 'set up'. There needs to be a sense of panic since they are being chased by an evil spirit. The clip will also be shortened as it is too long just to have it in the trailer.  

This clip is the same to the other one, this type of scene was filmed a number of times so that we could pick the best one to put in the trailer. In my opinion I think that this one is that better one to use in the trailer.

In this clip Brooke is seen setting up the camera, this was filmed because we needed to show a passage of time. The narrative of the trailer tells you that the crew was there for a whole day, so therefore there needs to be some clips of some of the film crew setting up the equipment.

In today's lesson I will be editing in the edited face of Hannah. 

This will fulfil LO4.

LO3: Locations.

One of the things that I want to include in the trailer is a time lapse of an outdated location, this was done in the trailer Grave Encounters and it was one of the things that I wanted to pastiche from it. 

The first location that I wanted to do this at Manor Castle, the castle has been around since the Victorian times and since then it hasn't been used.

LO4: What I am wanting to pastiche.

Grave Encounters.

In this trailer, one of the things that I want to pastiche are the handheld shots. This is because the trailer that my group are making is in a similar to this in terms of it being found footage. Another thing that I wanted to pastiche from this trailer are the conversations, this is because  one of the main points of the narrative of 'THE PROJECT' is that the group was filming at the location for the whole day.


The ring.

In this trailer one of the things that I want to pastiche the 'fast editing', this is because it adds emphasis on one of the main themes of the 'THE PROJECT' which is a horror. Another thing that I want to pastiche is the crane shot, in this trailer this shot it used to show the audience a new location. I want to use this in 'THE PROJECT' to show off the locations in and outside the building that is being filmed.

In today's lesson I have put all of the rushes on my blog, I will now need to evaluate them which will be done over the week. I should be finished by Saturday.

In today's lesson I will be doing the editing for the trailer ( THE PROJECT)

LO3: Rushes

In my opinion i think that this clip is the best one out of all of the clips and this is because the camera is zoomed in on Hannah and also the video quality looks grainy which makes it look like it is found footage.The only thing that needs to be changed is the lighting as it needs to be darker.

This clip is of the same scene as the last one, this was one of the scenes where by each time it was done it was done well so choosing one to put in the trailer will be difficult.

This clip was one of the multiple times that we filmed this scene where by Hannah presence in the house cases all of the doors to shut suddenly. This is a good clip that could be used in the trailer, the one thing that would need to be changed is the lighting and this is because it is too bright. The lighting needs to be dark because low key lighting connotes a more darker mood which would fit the purpose of the trailer.


This was another clip of the same scene, this clip had the same problem as the previous one where by the time between Hayley seeing Hannah and when the door closes is too long. However after considering all of the options we had decided that the best thing to do was to cut of the lag time on première to make the action look sudden.



This was a video clip of the group talking about all of the ways that they could improve this particular scene

This was one clip out of the many times that we had filmed this scene where by Hayley and Alex try to enter one of the other rooms only to have Hannah shut the door on them. This clip was quite bad and it wont be used in the trailer because there was a delay from the time when Hayley sees Hannah to the door being shut in their face, this action needs to happen quicker for it to appear in the trailer.

This clip is the third time this scene was filmed, this clip was not as good as the last one as the video quality was not as good. Its looked slightly out of focus.

This clip was one of the better ones that was filmed of this scene, this one is most likely to be used in the trailer. The positive thing about this clip is that the video quality is good and its also looks like the camera is being held by Hayley. The trailer needed more handled shots.

This was one of multiple clips of the same scene that was filmed, this was done so that the best one can be selected to be used on the trailer.



In this clip Hayley and Alex re being chased through the house by Hannah. One of negative points about this clip is that although the lighting is dark, it is quite difficult to see both Hayley and Alex running through the house. The positive point about this clip is that it creates urgency, so therefore I think that this clip would be suitable for the trailer.

 In this clip Hannah gives a dazed glare to the camera, I would like to use this clip at the end of the trailer where the demonic spirit finally reveals its self. The negative point about this clip is that it is evident that Hannah is wearing make up which its purpose of it being realistic and scary. The positive point about this clip is that the acting was quite good, so with darker lighting to mask her make then the clip could be used.

In this clip Alex is practising being in pain. The bad thing about this clip is that the lighting is really dark so it is quite difficult to see the two people in shot. The positive thing about this clip is that with all this practising Alex will be able to look like he is genuinely hurt.


In this clip Hayley and Alex are walking into one of the rooms where it turns out the demonic spirit is actually hiding. The negative point of this clip is that Hannah can be seen on camera, at this point she was to stay hidden. The positive point about this clip is that the lighting appropriate for the scene for the trailer and if the clip is going to be used then Hannah can be hidden through editing.


In this clip Hayley and Alex are running through the house trying to escape the spirit. The negative point of this clip is that because Alex is wearing black it is quite hard to see him running through as only a small torch was used to create the lighting. The positive point of this clip is that the minimal lighting creates a sense of  danger and panic, which then can be used the set the temp of the trailer.

In this clip the spiritual entity exposes herself to the camera. The one negative point about this clip is that because of the lighting it is clear that Hannah is wearing make and it is because of this that she does not look scary like the demonic spirit that she is supposed to be. The positive point of this clip is that this clip would make a great end to the trailer, with the use of premiere the lighting could be sorted out and then the clip would be a lot better.

In this scene Hannah reachers out to Alex from the shadows. The negative point of this clip is that lighting seen in this clip is supposed to be coming from the main camera that is shown in the clip, however it is clear that the light is coming from a different source. The positive point of this clip is that Alex genuinely looks frightened by the hand over his shoulder, this makes the moment look 'real',


This scene is similar to the one below, the only difference in this scene is that Hannah doesn't stop at the camera she walks past it. The negative point of this clip is as Hannah is walking past the camera the intensity of the light changes, the light dims as she walks past and then the intensity increases when she leaves the sight of the camera. The positive point of this clip is that


In this scene the spiritual entity ( Hannah ) is seen walking across the camera. The negative of this clip is that it is quite out of focus, although this is meant to look rustic as it is found footage it still needs to be in focus. All of the other film trailers that I looked at the camera was in focus. The positive of this clip is that the lighting was laid out it such a way that it looked like it was coming from the Sony camera ( big one shown throughout the trailer ), this makes the trailer look like a documentary.


This scene was similar to the one below, for this particular scene we had filmed many versions of it where Alex was hurt by the spiritual entity. The negative point of this clip is looked too surreal like he was waiting for it to happen.
In this clip Alex is practising the being in pain, it is in this scene where by the entity in the room. The one negative of this clip is that Alex's acting could be a improved, in this clip I he does not look like he is genuinely in pain. The positive of this clip is that after taking many shots of this scene this was one of the better ones and it was used in the trailer.

In this clip Hayley and Hannah are practising the scene where Hayley is abducted on camera. One of the negatives of this is that the video quality is very poor and the quality changes throughout the clip. One of the positives of this clip is that this clip can be edited along with the others to create a sense of urgency which is stereotypical of a horror.

LO4: Evidence of editing.

For this scene the footage needs to look like it is in night vision, this is how I managed to do this.

Firstly I added noise the footage to make it look hazy, as if it was found footage.

 

I then had to find the right shade of green, this was #102A13.

A frame needed to be added to it so it gives it the effect of someone looking through it on a camera.

This effect was added before the footage was cut,  this was so that I didn't have to apply the effect every time I cut it.
